About Metal For Good
Metal For Good is the brainchild of two rock and metal fans, inspired to try and make a positive difference in society using the power of music.
However, Metal For Good wouldn’t be possible without a group of incredible trustees, advisors, and supporters.
Who Are We?
Katy and Chris Baker are the founders and driving force behind Metal For Good. As passionate rock and metal fans for over 25 years, they believe that the rock and metal community is uniquely positive and a force for social change. Lisa Bardsley
“As a young teenager in deepest Dorset a school friend’s boyfriend taped me a couple of albums on a trusty TDK C90, those albums were by Motorhead. He did it as a joke , he thought I’d hate it, it backfired as the music flicked a switch on in my brain and started my everlasting love for heavy metal and classic rock music. The obsession was strong and I pursued a dream of working in the music business which lead me to being a freelance writer for Kerrang and Metal Hammer, music retail management and distribution label manager working with the world’s premier metal labels including Roadrunner, Music For Nations, Relapse, Metal Blade and Earache”
For the last decade Lisa has been a freelance music marketing consultant with clients including the Steelhouse Festival, Home of Metal and the band Thunder.
Nic Skipwith
“My name is Nic, I’m a lifelong fundraiser, originally from Hertfordshire but now based in Birmingham, mum of two, married to Tom, and Chair of Trustees at Noah’s Star. I’ve spent my entire career involved in fundraising in some way and couldn’t be happier to be involved in Metal For Good. I’ve worked for a variety of charities including Richard House – a local children’s hospice, and Macmillan Cancer Support and have covered lots of different fundraising areas from individual giving to corporate partnerships.”
For the past 4 years Nic has been a director at Oaks – a specialist consultancy supporting socially-minded organisations with strategy, fundraising, and income generation.
Neil Turnham
“Hi, I’m Neil. I’ve been a talent professional for 25 years working in HR leadership positions, principally in the media and events sector, with companies such as Paramount Global, Global Media & Entertainment and Ascential plc.
Since 2017 I’ve been working as a personal and leadership coach, supporting people to achieve their career and life goals whilst making a meaningful impact.
As a passionate rock and metal fan, I am proud to be involved with Metal For Good, a fantastic group of people that seek to make a difference to people that need it most.”
Nadine Croney
“After being blown away by Appetite for Destruction and the opening riffs to Welcome to the Jungle as a 13-year-old, and being fascinated by the controversy of the original album artwork, my career aspiration to become a record cover designer was crystallised. But after graduating with a degree in graphic design and a short stint working in creative agencies, my career segued into the corporate world where for the last 25 years I’ve specialised in brand management, brand strategy and marketing, and leading communication teams for leading global businesses in the banking and legal sector. Although I didn’t realise the career dream of my younger self, heavy metal has remained a constant in my life and most weekends you’ll find me at gigs or festivals, supporting local and upcoming bands, and being ‘momager’ to my teenage son and his band.”
Ric Blaxill
Ric started his career at Radio 1 as producer of the breakfast show before being appointed Producer Top of the Pops and TOTP2. Ric then left broadcasting to work as A&R Director for Independiente Records.

After producing The Pop Years for Sky Ric moved back into radio as Group Creative Director at Capital. Ric was then offered the Head of Programmes role at BBC 6Music.

Jake Tullett
“I have worked in various roles across the social impact sector, always supporting communities to deliver projects that matter to them. Specialising in participatory grant making, impact measurement and community development, I am so excited to combine experience with my real passion, and support Metal for Good to improve people’s lives through heavy music.”
Jake currently works across London and the South-east for a housing developer, as a Community and Social Impact Manager.
Kesh Mauree-Bain
“I have worked in various roles across the non-profit sector with a focus on addressing inequality and promoting diversity.
I currently lead on a programme which is working to increase diversity across the football industry by removing barriers for people from underrepresented backgrounds. I am also a trustee at Free Movement Skateboarding, a charity which supports the wellbeing, empowerment and social cohesion of young people in Athens through skateboarding.
Metal has been a huge influence in my life from a young age but, as a brown woman, I haven’t always felt fully included or represented within the community. I’m so excited to join Metal for Good to help ensure that the metal community’s values of inclusivity and belonging are true for everyone.”
